The IBPS SO exam consists of two different stages:
- The first one is the Prelims exam. (Objective Test)
- The second one is the Mains exam. (Objective & Descriptive Test) followed by the Interview round.
Candidates have to score passing marks in both the exam in order to be eligible for the interview, if a candidate passes the Prelims exam, only then they can give the mains exam, after clearing the mains exam there will be an interview round.

Prelims exam
There are three sections in prelims and all the section consists of 50 questions for each. They all sections will be objective type. Prelims exam consist 125 marks.The time limit of prelims is 2 hours. Applicants have to complete their exam within the deadline of timing.

Mains exam
After scoring the passing for the IBPS SO Prelim or first stage exam candidates have to appear for the IBPS SO Mains exam. Mains exam consists of two sections, in which there are two sections for the candidates who applied for raj Sabha officer, and one section is for those candidates who applied for Law Officer, Marketing Officer, Agriculture Field Officer HR/Personnel Officer, and IT Officer. The mains exam consists of 60 marks. The time limit of mains is 2 hours. Applicants have to complete their exam within the deadline and under the pattern.
